28 The Scores, St Andrews, KY16 9AS
The Hazelbank is a small 10 bedroomed hotel which has been run by the Henretty family since 1988.
Hazelbank was built in 1898, originally as a private residence for a tea planter retiring from India before becoming a Private hotel in the early 20th century and over the years has hosted visitors from virtually every country in the world. Four times Open Champion Bobby Locke was a regular visitor when Hazelbank was run by the Cunningham family and was resident at Hazelbank when he won The Open in 1957.
Hazelbank commands an enviable position on The Scores in St Andrews – the street immediately behind the Old Course 18th green and Royal and Ancient Golf Club and is only 200 meters or so from the first tee.
All of the original decorative plasterwork and the impressive timber staircase have been retained showing off the best of the building’s Victorian Heritage.
The building has been extensively refurbished over the last number of years and we offers 10 warm, all non-smoking, comfortable and richly decorated bedrooms all with full modern en-suite bathrooms. Each room has direct dial telephone, flat screen television and hospitality tray for tea and coffee. Free Wi-Fi is provided in all bedrooms and public areas.
Despite being so close to the golf courses we are a mere 5 minute walk from the town centre and only a hundred and fifty meters from University Library Admissions Office, Arts Faculty Building and 300 meters from the historic St Salvators Chapel and famous University Quad.
The ancient castle and cathedral, the picturesque harbour and the modern East sands swimming and Leisure Centre are all within 15 minutes walk.
Whether you visit St. Andrews for golf or University or just to savour the peaceful historic beauty of the city, the Hazelbank Hotel is ideally placed.
