Listen, here …

At the tail end of the lockdowns, we launched the CuparNow Podcast. In 2025, we are building on the successes of CuparNow to deliver support for businesses, organisations and community groups across north-east Fife through our combined channels – CuparNow, StAndrewsNow and EastNeukNow. Each has their own blog and socials – but we have combined for YouTube and our Podcast … now rebranded as the super-snappy WhoWhereWhatWhenWhyHowAndNow Podcast!

It is all in the name …

Each podcast is hosted by Simon Baldwin – Director at Destination Digital that runs the ‘Now’ channels. Why the name change – and why the name?

Simon says: “I trained as a journalist many years ago and my then sub-editor taught me a valuable lesson in story writing: answer the questions.” Simon adds: “When writing a story – or in this case creating a podcast – make sure you try and answer the questions your reader or listener might want to ask. Who, where, what, when, why and how were the words he spilled out, and they have stuck with me ever since.

Every story, blog feature or podcast is different – shaped by the person being interviewed. Simon explains: “I share a simple list of questions based on the WWWWW&H mantra, but they change according to to the person, the company or organisation, the event being covered … whatever the circumstances might be. The replies I get help me to shape the conversation when we hit ‘record’. As a result, the chat flows and we can dip in and out of the topics they have shared.

On the tee …

First up on the new podcast is David Scott – a very well-known figure in golfing circles, not just at home but far beyond the boundaries of north-east Fife.

The St Andean and British PGA Captain was recently appointed as Honorary Professional of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, a prestigious role held by only five others in its history. Simon caught up with David at Dumbarnie Links to chat about golf, life, his career including the transformative work of the charity, Caddie School for Soldiers … as well as radiators!

The podcast takes a journey from David’s childhood in St Andrews through his earliest days on the course with his school pals. We cover his first role at Blairgowrie, then onto Letham Grange and Balbirnie Park Golf Club before he landed the role of Director of Golf at Kingsbarns. Then onto his time at the five red star Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa – including time in housekeeping! And then his move to Dumbarnie where he has been General Manager of the award-winning links since 2020.
