The James Hair Group

One of the benefits of signing up to StAndrewsNow is to feature on a Blog profile – enabling businesses, organisations and groups to tell their own story, stories that are then shared on our channels to reach audiences near and far.

In our latest, we caught up with Paul Robertson, chartered accountant and tax adviser with James Hair Group.

James Hair Group celebrate 45 years in business this summer.

The accountancy, tax and financial services firm welcomed Paul to their team in 2022. Paul says: “I relocated from the Highlands and am a director, leading our tax services.” A qualified chartered accountant and tax adviser, Paul (pictured below) and the wider team provide accountancy, tax and financial advice for both businesses, individuals and families – with many long-established relationships.

Paul adds: “I joined the firm because of that established record – a longevity of high quality service that is well known and respected across and beyond north-east Fife.

The firm is keen to support the local area – to be a “trusted adviser navigating the challenges of accounting, tax, and wealth management“. Paul adds: “We take time with our clients to ensure we understand their needs and deliver fully thought-out, positive solutions. We are also committed to training and developing our staff skills along with helping create the next generation of Chartered Accountants.

We asked Paul if he can identify any particular inspiration in his work: “I trained and worked with accountancy practices in the Highlands and was inspired by the partners I worked for – gaining an appreciation that the accountant is more than just about the figures, but is a trusted adviser to many important aspects of people’s lives.” He adds: “This is particularly relevant to rural areas and it is important for the adviser to be based in and participate in that local area.

Currently, James Hair Group employs 26 members of staff including Paul. He says: “I am part of the director team including James Hair, Raymond Hutt, David Arthur and Sheena Gibson and we look after clients across the region from our two offices – here in St Andrews as well as in Cupar.

We asked Paul what he would say is the firm’s USP. “We have considerable experience in our fields. Most importantly, we provide a director-led service for our clients.

And the company’s greatest achievements? Paul says: “Due to our continued growth, we are delighted to have expanded our Cupar office again and established a new front-office. This not only improves our client space but also confirms our commitment to the local area.
