One of Scotland’s oldest privately owned galleries, Fraser Gallery St Andrews and Fraser East celebrated 150 years in business in 2012.
Fraser Gallery St Andrews is owned and managed by Roderick and Louise Fraser and first opened its doors in 1862 under the auspices of Roderick’s great grandfather. Originally based in Dundee, the family also ran galleries in Edinburgh and opened Fraser Gallery St Andrews in South Street in March 2007.
The galleries offer a unique, intimate space in the heart of St Andrews showcasing some of the very best of contemporary Scottish artists.
Fraser East is our second gallery, opened in July 2010. The gallery, also in South Street (No 47) in St Andrews, is another fantastic ‘ and quite unique- space, with a beautiful 16th century stone barrel-vaulted room at the rear of the gallery.
In a unique collaboration, one of Scotland’s oldest galleries and one of Scotland’s most renown artist have committed to a long-term project, which will see Francis Boag take up the post of Artist in Residence at Fraser East ‘ the sister gallery of Fraser Gallery St Andrews which is used for solo exhibitions and other creative events.
Over the next 12 months, starting in early November, the Fraser Gallery will curate a rolling programme of exhibitions in Fraser East showing the most recent works of the artist. In addition to showcasing his work, Francis will also be on hand to engage with gallery visitors in a whole range of events including painting demonstrations and formal and informal talks on his work and working methods to which clients will be invited.
