Panoramic Dining

One of St Andrews’ most anticipated restaurant openings has arrived, Clarets – the latest venture from The Rocca Group – is now open at The R&A World Golf Museum, overlooking the world-famous Old Course.

Occupying a prime single-level space with seating for 60 guests, Clarets has been thoughtfully designed to offer a “refined yet welcoming environment“.  Perfectly positioned with panoramic views across the iconic Old Course, sweeping West Sands and the historic Royal & Ancient Clubhouse, Clarets delivers an all-day dining experience combining a comfortable setting, warm hospitality and one of Scotland’s most celebrated backdrops.

A considered mix of raised seating and relaxed lounge areas shapes the space, offering a variety of dining experiences – from casual, sociable moments to more intimate, comfortable settings throughout the day.

The interiors feature a sophisticated palette of Claret’s signature deep burgundy tones, complemented by soft greys and natural textures. This creates a warm and inviting environment that subtly nods to the game’s traditions while maintaining a contemporary edge.

You dine in a unique setting surrounded by an extraordinary collection of golfing memorabilia, including historic trophies and iconic claret jugs from the past and present. This immersive environment places diners at the heart of golfing history, offering a truly distinctive backdrop that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Blending design, atmosphere and heritage, Clarets delivers what the owners describe as “a golfer’s paradise for dining in Scotland – where world-class views, rich history and exceptional hospitality come together in one unforgettable setting“.

Stefano Pieraccini, Managing Director of The Rocca Group, said: “Opening Clarets here is incredibly meaningful for us. St Andrews is a place with such history and character, and we wanted to create a restaurant that reflects that — not just in the setting, but in the atmosphere, the food and the experience. To be able to welcome guests into a space overlooking the Old Course, surrounded by that history, is something very special.

The restaurant launches with a carefully curated breakfast and lunch menu evolving into a relaxed brasserie-style experience in the evenings.

Morning and daytime favourites include classics such as avocado on sourdough, a hearty full Scottish breakfast, indulgent eggs Benedict, and comforting plates including a signature haggis toastie.

Dinner service will introduce “an approachable yet elevated evening menu” designed to complement the venue’s remarkable setting.

Clarets is perfectly suited for relaxed lunches, post-golf gatherings, and atmospheric evening dining overlooking the Old course. Weekly Sunday roasts, offering a traditional experience in an extraordinary location, are expected to become a highlight for both locals and visitors.

The venue is also available for private hire, accommodating up to 100 guests standing or 60 seated, making it an ideal setting for celebrations, corporate gatherings and bespoke events.

Guests can also look forward to special speaker dinners featuring figures from the golfing world, alongside the opportunity to experience iconic artifacts in the museum setting.
